Men's Hairstyle... Come on people help a guy out?

I have thick, straw like hair, dark/messy blonde in color. When it gets shaggier, it likes to curl up on the sides and it makes it look not good at all!





My head/face shape is normal I think, or at least what people tell me. I fret that I have a big head though, and that making it look messy (in a good way) will make it look even bigger and spiking it as well.

I would just grow it out and use a straightener to control the curling and the thickness/
